Suburbs - Oaktree Properties - Rooted in Grahamstown

Although Makhanda/ Grahamstown is quite small, it has several different "suburbs", each with its own distinct character and amenities. If you're looking to rent or buy property in particular parts of Makhanda/ Grahamstown, it's worth getting to know the local estate agent "lingo". Central

This area is exactly what is says – absolutely central and perfect if you are walking everywhere.
Several secure complexes in this area, which are perfect for "lock up and go".
Rental properties are understandably usually more expensive in this area. View Properties in Central.

Fort England

These properties are situated near the Fort England Hospital.
If you are renting in this area – you would need a motor vehicle to get to town and Rhodes University and shops.

Hill 60

Situated just behind Westhill and up on the hill. This is not walking distance to town and a motor vehicle would be needed.
A lovely area with some beautiful properties. Beautiful views too!

Oatlands

Property prices in this area are usually quite high as they are situated close to town and Rhodes, as well as the private schools.

Kingswood

These properties are situated close to Kingswood Private School. Ideal if you are working at Kingswood – you can walk to work!
Homes are slightly older with lovely character.
Depending where you are located – you can walk to town and Rhodes University. View properties in Kingswood.

Somerset Heights

Situated near Graeme College, with some houses having panoramic views over Makhanda/ Grahamstown. A lovely suburb consisting of various homes and some townhouses.

Sunnyside

This suburb is situated on the same side as PJ Olivier School and Victoria Girls High School. There are some townhouse complexes and flats in this area too.

Stones Hill

Westhill

This area is close to the private schools – DSG and St Andrews.
It is also walking distance to Rhodes University.
This is an older part of town and has some lovely properties. Rental properties usually priced at a premium in this area. View Properties in Westhill.
